One of my favorite Fashionistas

To be honest, I don’t have many dolls in the Fashionista series. I was quite enthusiastic about purchasing them when they first started coming out but I soon gave up because so many are issued each year and for someone who is supposed to be thinning her collection they’re simply not a good idea:)

It’s often hard to resist though because each doll often comes with some cute outfit or accessory and it’s tempting to purchase them just for those one or two pieces.

Pictured below is one of my favorite Fashionistas. I am not 100% sure but I think she was issued in 2018. I wanted to rebody her with an MTM body but couldn’t find a MTM doll with the right skin tone. However, she is still a beauty.

Here she is dressed in a cute Wonder Woman t-shirt and skirt.

Barbie Sisters Snow Fun Giftset

I just saw this set on Amazon and thought it was really cute. As seen below, this is a 3-doll set with Barbie, Stacie, and Chelsea dolls. The dolls are dressed in cute winter outfits and come with a snowmobile.

The release date for the set was 30 Nov 2018 but I have not seen it in the stores and it wasn’t on Amazon till very recently. I think its a very cute set to add to your collection if you haven’t got it already.

Note: I’m excited to announce that Nutsaboutdolls has just been added to Top 100 Doll blogs. Check it out because it’s a great resource for finding more doll related blogs and information. To add to your ease of use, I have added their widget to this site so that you can get the latest updates in one place. Enjoy!

Yves Saint Laurent Barbies

I tried to log onto Barbie.com to hopefully order at least one of these dolls but couldn’t because the site was down. But I logged on with great enthusiasm when the site came back hoping to order at least one of these dolls e.g. the one in the colour block dress or the safari jacket. However, these plans came to an abrupt halt when I saw the price of each doll. I haven’t seen these dolls in person (yet) but at US$150 per doll, I feel these dolls are terribly overpriced.

Yes, I could be wrong because maybe the outfit is really detailed but past experience hasn’t shown this to be true especially when it comes to the quality of the outfit, face paint and so on. I looked at the description of the doll in the safari jacket and discovered that the doll has a model muse body and that the eyelashes on the doll are painted. Included with the doll are a safari jacket, belt, knee-length shorts, hat, suede boots, earrings and doll stand.

I’ve had Barbie dolls when I was a kid. My first doll was the Sweet 16 Barbie from the 1970s. I started collecting Barbie as an adult in 1996 and only stopped when I ran out of space. Although I am now supposed to be reducing the size of my collection, I haven’t been able to stop myself from buying some dolls from time to time as my posts have shown but the quality of new dolls have been dropping and I just can’t bring myself to spend that kind of money until I’ve seen some favourable reviews of these dolls. Yes, I know the Yves Saint Laurent name is associated with these dolls but although the brand is different we’ve all seen these designer name dolls over the years so nothing new on that front. I might get a lot of grief for this post but this is my opinion at this point in time.

PS: Just looked at the photos again and love the packaging

Jurassic World Owen & Claire Dolls

Just came across photos of these dolls today and especially like the look of the Claire doll. I like that she is not the typical pretty blonde doll. I read that the doll is supposed to resemble the actress who plays the part. I will plead ignorance and say that I haven’t seen the movie but decided to search for a photo of the actress.

I love dolls with freckles and red hair so I guess that’s probably the reason why I’d like to get this doll. I hope she comes with some interesting accessories because I don’t think her outfit is anything die for. One other thing that makes this a ‘must buy’ for me is the fact that the Claire doll is articulated.

I love the way this doll looks. Again I would like to see it in person because I hope that it is very tanned as I would love to have an articulated Ken doll that has a darker skin tone.

I have to be honest and admit that I experienced a sense of deja vu when I first came across the photo of this set. It’s beautiful enough I guess but I feel as if I’ve seen it before. Flashback to the Together forever series and the Barbie & Ken as Camelot’s King Arthur and Queen Guinevere from 1999. Honestly, that’s the first thing I thought of. I know the dolls look totally different but I guess I’ve been collecting for too long and want to see something different in the collector line instead of sets where Barbie is just a beautiful blond doll. I know I have also been spoilt by the Fashionista dolls which have so much diversity. One collector series that has piqued my interest and that I couldn’t miss was the Amelia Earhart doll from the Barbie Inspiring Women series. I wish I could have purchased more than just the Amelia doll but just couldn’t because of space and budget constraints.

What do you guys think? Am I being too harsh or have I just been collecting for too long? 🙂

Unicorn Goddess Barbie

I just found out about this Barbie a few days ago and love the concept. She is the first doll in the enchanting Mythical Muse™ Series designed by Bill Greening. I think all the details of her outfit look interesting but implementation is key and I’d definitely want to have a look at her in person before actually deciding to purchase her.

Fashionista Barbies

I’ve grown to love the Fashionista Barbies and some of the new Kens. Each has a different look, and even if I am not crazy about the doll, I usually like either the outfit or accessories she has. And I think that this little titbit is going to be my downfall budget wise 🙂

For instance, I just came across the Barbie Fashionista XOXO doll (on the left), and I think she is a beauty, but to me, her outfit looks cheap with its printed ties.

Two other dolls that I like and am thinking of getting are the Brunette Fashionista Barbie in the polka dot dress and Barbie in the floral print dress. Both look great and come with really cute outfits that will make it really easy to mix and match.

My only complaint about all the Fashionista dolls is one that I think most of you will share and that is their lack of flexibility. I know that I can always switch bodies with an MTM doll but there are 2 problems with this idea. For one, MTM dolls are hard to come by here and not cheap so switching bodies is not an ideal solution. Secondly, Fashionista dolls come in a variety of skin tones so finding the right body can also be a problem. This is a real pity because there are so many beautiful dolls in the Fashionista line that are just asking for new bodies.

Barbie A Wrinkle in Time Giftset

I’ve been trying to space out my posts so that there’s a consistent stream of new content but I haven’t been very successful because the last few posts have come so close together but I will keep on trying.

The movie A Wrinkle in Time is now showing in our cinemas and I thought that this would be a perfect time to provide you guys with a review of the dolls since some of you might have ordered them or about to purchase them.

These dolls look fantastic and I was pleased to come across this review because this person actually deboxed her dolls and provided a running commentary as she did so here goes.
