MTM Basketball Barbie & a BMR1959 outfit

I loved the look of some of the new BMR1959 Barbies & Kens and was lucky enough to purchase one of the outfits from a fellow collector. I redressed my basketball MTM Barbie in the outfit and she looks fantastic! I didn’t think the outfit would fit because the basketball Barbie is a tall Barbie but it does. Shoes were not included in the purchase of the outfit but the shoes of the basketball MTM Barbie work just as well.

BMR1959 Collection from Mattel

BMRCatagory_Banner_1226x300

The BMR1959™ collection celebrates the fashion heritage of Barbie® and showcases how current trends influence the brand. These bold, fully posable dolls capture the diverse looks found in today’s streetwear culture. From high-low fashion mixes, re-imagined ‘90s gear to juxtaposed patterns, textures, and silhouettes, this curated ensemble is all about personal expression and style. (mattel.barbie.com)

All the dolls in the collection are fully posable, comes in a streetwear-inspired shoebox and include a BMR1959™ logo doll stand. Priced at US$29.99.

These very colorful dolls remind me of the United Colors of Benneton dolls from the 1990s. I’m excited about the fully posable Ken dolls and can’t wait to see them.

Midnight Decadence Poppy Parker

I just got this doll a couple of weeks ago but didn’t debox her because I wasn’t sure whether I was going to keep her. In fact, she was one of the dolls I was going to sell to reduce my collection of Poppy Parker dolls. However, this video has got me reconsidering my decision. It’s a review done by SureshNY and as usual he’s done an excellent review. Here it is for you to enjoy.

Barbie® David Bowie Doll: Ziggy Stardust

FXD84_01

Barbie® honors the ultimate pop chameleon, English singer, songwriter, and actor, David Bowie, whose dramatic musical transformations continue to influence and inspire. With a career spanning over five decades, David Bowie was at the vanguard of contemporary culture as a musician, artist, and icon. He was, and remains to be, a unique presence in contemporary culture. Dressed as Bowie’s fantastic sci-fi alter ego, Ziggy Stardust, in the iconic metallic ‘space suit,’ this collectible Barbie® doll honors the cultural legacy of the musical genius who redefined rock and roll. (Source: Barbie.Mattel.com)

I tried visiting Barbie.com to check on her availability but she doesn’t seem to be available at the moment. It is marked as a Gold Label doll so it will be produced in limited quantities and unfortunately, I don’t know what that quantity is. Priced at USD50.00

2019 Holiday Barbies

I meant to post this the other day but then RL cropped up and I completely forgot about it till now. The 2019 Holiday Barbies are out and are available in 3 different skin tones.

GPH06_01

I would like to see the actual dolls before I consider getting them. There was a point in time when I had all the holiday Barbies starting with the one in 1988 but I had to give some of them up when my collection exploded and I had to downsize my collection.

What about you? Is one of these dolls or the set of 3 on your wishlist?
