I came across these dolls by chance and absolutely had to buy a couple. I love their outfits and the whole goth vibe that I was getting from the one I deboxed. Check out her outfit and accessories.
Have any of you seen her before? Has she ever been brought into Singapore? I haven’t seen her but then I haven’t been paying attention to what’s in the stores for a while before this so I know I have missed lots.
She has rooted lashes and painted nails. My only complaint about her is the lack of articulation. Can you tell that I am very spoiled by the MTM dolls?
This is the other doll I bought. Again I love her outfit – shorts, tee, jacket and a cute bag. She has beautiful red hair and rooted eyelashes as well.
I couldn’t resist and also got this outfit. At the time, I wanted to customize a doll with huge black wings so I guess that’s why it appealed to me.
Apparently, these dolls are the result of Mattel working with Stardoll, a Swedish-based company with a virtual paper doll website. Stardolls are meant to be three dimensional paper dolls, hence the lack of articulation. Plus side? She is beautiful and is the same size as Barbie so she is supposed to be able to wear Barbie’s clothes. Underneath her outfit, she has very nicely painted pink underwear.
Dresses that are made of stretchable fabric fit pretty well while more tailored outfits are too loose in the chest. I found this to be quite disappointing because I had all sorts of outfits that I wanted to dress my Stardoll in. Another thing that you need to note is that Stardolls have much bigger feet than Barbie so it’s a definite ‘No’ to borrowing Barbie’s shoes.
However, even with all of the negatives, I still think she is a beautiful doll. Some have said that she isn’t posable at all in that she can’t sit in a car or at a cafe table but the same can be said for the Fashionista line of dolls. I might try to do a head switch with an MTM doll to see how that looks. Will definitely update this blog when I get around to it.
