When did you start collecting dolls?rosebuds

I started collecting dolls as young as 5 but my collection really started to grow when I began working.

rosebudsWhat prompted you to purchase your first doll?

My mum bought me my first doll. It was a Takara Licca doll.

rosebudsWhat kinds of Barbies &/or dolls do you collect?

I collect all sorts of dolls. Not only do I have a number of Barbies but I also have Licca, Jenny, Blythe, Pullip, Strawberry Shortcake dolls, Lollipop Girls, Ladeedah dolls and My Scene dolls.

rosebudsWhat kinds of dolls would you love to see in the stores in your area?

I’d love to see more Disney store dolls and have been known to contact companies to ask for specific dolls. For instance, I once wrote to Mattel Singapore on Facebook to bring EAH dolls into our stores when the EAH signature dolls were first launched.

rosebudsDo you have any tips or advice for other collectors?

Buy dolls that you love and not just the dolls you think will appreciate in value. Keep some NRFB but debox others to play with without worrying about their depreciating values. I keep my dolls in good condition in and out of their boxes because I love them.

Lack of storage or display space is always a problem do learn to sell or give some away. I’m always buying new dolls and do lots of shopping while travelling. Recently, I’ve learnt to buy preloved dolls and gain more joy in restoration of these preloved dolls to give them new “life”. I’ve also learnt to sew clothes for them and restyle them. Most of the dolls pictured are preloved and I’ve had great fun restoring them.
